Start a project
yocman init creates a ready-to-build kas project from a catalogue of boards and features verified against
the real layer repositories.
yocman init --check-host # what this machine can build, on the host or in a container
yocman init # interactive assistant
Or in one command:
yocman init --release scarthgap --board rpi4-64 \
--feature ssh-openssh --feature wifi --env container --dir ~/yocto/rpi4
The project contains kas.yml, one fragment per feature, your own layer meta-<name> and .yocman.yml
(build environment). Layers are fetched and pinned (kas lock) and the result is committed with git.
Build and flash
cd ~/yocto/rpi4
yocman build # host or kas container, with a readable progress
yocman flash --list-devices
yocman flash --device /dev/sdX
A first build takes hours: run it in tmux or screen. flash only offers removable disks, shows the
model, size and partitions, and asks you to type the device name before writing.
Add a feature later with yocman add <feature>, remove it with yocman remove <feature>.
